Galway Technical Institute, Father Griffin Road, will host its annual open day on Wednesday March 11 from 9am to 5pm. GTI is the largest provider of quality assured further education (FE ) courses in the west of Ireland.
GTI has served the people of Galway with distinction for more than 110 years. It is now part of the further education sector, which has grown rapidly in recent years and is now a major contributor to the national effort at improving the skills of the workforce as well as providing new and exciting alternative progression routes into third level education.
GTI offers a range of FETAC Awards at Levels 5 and 6 as well as ITEC, CIBTAC, ECDL, junior and senior trades, City & Guilds, and Apple certification in art, design, and media, business, healthcare and beauty, and computing and engineering. The qualifications gained carry the full weight and prestige of the State and are recognised by employers across the EU.
GTI Creative Media Centre offers equipment and facilities typical of those used in commerce and industry, giving students hands on experience in a realistic working environment. GTI has just installed a new digital content unit incorporating a podcast server, the first such custom designed facility in the west. It allows students to record audio and video material and then process their work. Finished, high quality, content may then be streamed using the podcast server to end users anywhere in the world.
