Get your paws on the prom for the MADRA Dogathon

One of the highlights of the MADRA calendar, the annual MADRA Dogathon, will take place this Sunday May 14 at 1pm.

The Dogathon event is a well-known meeting of mutts which last year raised €10,000 for dogs in need. A MADRA spokesperson said, “With an average of 60 dogs coming into the kennels each month, the Dogathon is a really important event for us. It not only raises awareness of what we do but also brings in much needed funds for the charity.

“We are hoping to exceed last year’s record of ‘one thousand paws on the prom’, and we urge the people of Galway to get online to register for this promenade walk which starts at Fr Griffin’s Eire Og GAA Club, The Claddagh, Galway.”

Online registration is now open via MADRA’s website; entry costs €10 per adult, €5 per child, or €25 for a family (two adults and two children ). All dogs go free but pooches are encouraged to raise sponsorship for dogs in need either online via idonate.ie or by requesting a sponsorship card from MADRA at [email protected].

The dog who raises the most sponsorship will receive the title of ‘Grand Canine Marshall’ of the Dogathon and will appear on the cover of the 2018 MADRA calendar.

There will be a photographer there on the day offering a doggy portrait service, as well as merchandise stands and tea, and cakes galore.

Exhibitor space is available for hire at the venue – for more information contact us at [email protected].
