Galway councils to get more than €800,000 to bring 46 houses back into use

Houses to go to families on waiting list or at risk of homelessness says TD Seán Kyne

A total of €816,000 has been allocated to the Galway city and county council's to bring 46, currently vacant, local authority houses back into use for households on waiting lists or at risk of homelessness.".

The funding is being provided under Pillar II of the Government's Rebuilding Ireland Strategy, with €174,000 going to the Galway City Council to refurbish 16 vacant properties for housing, and €642,500 allocated to the Galway County Council's housing department, to bring 30 vacant properties back into use.

The funding has been welcomed by the Minister for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, and Galway West Fine Gael TD Seán Kyne, who said it would "provide housing for individuals and families on the council housing lists".
