A charity which supports people recovering from strokes and heart attacks has received a significant financial boost from a local company.
Croi has secured a three year commitment of €25,000 from well known Galway company Coen Steel.
The funds will be used by the charity to develop and deliver supports for patients affected by strokes, and their carers, after being discharged from hospital.
“This is a great “kick-start” to our fundraising efforts to develop a comprehensive after-hospital stroke survivor and carer support programme,” says Croi’s Neil Johnson.
“Currently, the support initiatives we provide such as exercise, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, are all delivered by trained volunteers who give freely and generously of their time. Our aim is develop these services and put them on a more secure footing.”
Speaking at the presentation of funds to Croi, David Coen, the managing director of Coen Steel, said his organisation is delighted to support Croi in this very important work.
“We have seen at first hand the great work being undertaken by Croi at its heart and stroke centre in Galway and indeed in communities throughout the west.”
