Elaine Mai - new EP and Róisín Dubh gig

Electro singer-songwriter to release The Colour Of Night

THE COLOUR Of Night, the new EP from electro singer-songwriter Elaine Mai will be launched at the Róisín Dubh. Almost three years in the making, it is a cathartic work about the human experiences of grief and hope.

The title track is also Elaine's new single. "Over the last few years, I have encountered close personal grief for the first time and this track is about that experience," she says. "The melody and movement in the strings are a musical representation of the journey from sorrow and despair to acceptance and hope. Although the person you loved is gone, there is joy in their memory, solace in the time shared together. 'The Colour of the Night' captures that for me."

Since the release of her last EP in 2014, Elaine has been expanding on and experimenting with her live show, and her approach to songwriting and production. Over the past two years, she has released a number of remixes and co-produced the track 'Rocamadour' with Daithí. She also wrote and produced music for Finem Respice, a play which enjoyed a sold out run as part of the 2016 Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival.

The launch takes place in the Róisín Dubh on Saturday May 6 at 9pm. Admission is free.
