Four hands - one piano

Finghin Collins and Cédric Tiberghien in concert for Music For Galway

THEY WILL play the piano separately and then, side by side, they will play the piano together, just to show that, not only do 'many hands make light work', but can, if they are the right hands, play wonderful music.

Pianists Finghin Collins and Cédric Tiberghien will perform a concert entitled Piano Duos on Thursday May 4 at 8pm in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall, NUI Galway. The programme will be Bach's Partita No 1 in Bb major BWV 825, Szymanowski's 12 Etudes Op 33, and Bartók's Etudes Op 18. The highlight will be when both men sit at the same piano to perform Brahm's 21 Hungarian Dances 1 for four hands.

Finghin Collins is Music for Galway’s artistic director and one of Ireland's most loved and celebrated pianists. In 1999 he won the prestigious Clara Haskil Competition in Switzerland. Since then he has developed a flourishing career as soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. Frenchman Cédric Tiberghien recently made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra and his recital debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul.

Tickets are €20/16/6 from Music For Galway (www.musicforgalway.ie, 091 - 705962 ) or Opus II, High Street.
