FOLLOWING IN the footsteps of Foil, Arms & Hog, and Mr Trelis, Ireland has a new sketch group - Cccahoots from Cork - who have already caused a sensation online and on Republic Of Telly.
CCCahoots - Tadhg Hickey, Dominic MacHale, and Laura O' Mahony - play the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh tomorrow at 9pm. They have created two web series, deliver weekly online sketches, and are developing their first full TV sitcom for RTE. The Rubberbandits called them "pure clever...Irish TV could do with more of that."
Film-maker Lenny Abrahamson and the Channel 4 Comedy Department have both called CCCahoots "excellent", while Eddie Doyle, head of comedy at RTÉ described them as "one of the brightest and most original comedy prospects RTÉ have had in recent years".
Support is from Niall Horisk, whose sarcastic wit has made him a rising star of NUIG comedy and a regular at the Róisín's Tuesday showcase. The MC is Irish Comedian of the Year Steve Bennett. Tickets are €10 in advance from Róisín Dubh; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and roisindubh.net; or €12.50 at the door.
