Galway Crystal buys back own site

The Galway Crystal site om the Dublin Road has been recently bought back by Galway Irish Crystal for €3.5 million.

The premises opposite Merlin Park Hospital were reportedly initially purchased for €20 million in 2006 by developer Bernard McNamara. The developer hoped to use the site for apartments and secured planning permission for 178 homes before his company went into receivership. Galway Crystal had continued to operate from the site as a tenant, until its recent successful bid saw it as the new owner of the premises.

Galway Crystal relocated in the late sixties to the Dublin Road site from Nuns Island. The buildings were renovated in 1996 with the addition of the very impressive Georgian style building, which opened to the public in the summer of that year.

The factory boasts a huge variety of crystal, from the traditional to the modern, with pieces that appeal to all tastes and pockets. While visitors admire the many stunning crystal chandeliers which will light your way through the visit, to the super deals and bargains to be had, with many non catalogue lines and one off pieces sold at incredibly tempting prices. As well as the world famous brand of crystal there is also a large range of china to choose from, with both Belleek Parian China and Aynsley China on sale there.

With ample free parking for coaches and cars, the factory shop is a must see place for those with special occasions and caters for those from personal events to larger sporting and corporate events. It also provides a reliable mail order service and can deliver chosen gifts worldwide.
