WEEE Ireland will host two free public collection days this month for recycling eletrical waste in Galway.
In an effort to make it as easy or householders in Galway to recycle their electrical and battery waste, WEEE Ireland’s collection days will take place on Saturday (April 22 ) and April 29, where any household item with a plug or battery will be accepted free of charge.
The first collection will take place in Loughrea, in the SuperValu car park from 10am to 4pm.
The second collection will be in Gort Co-Operative Livestock Mart, Ballybawn from 10am to 4pm.
Any appliance, small or large with a plug or battery will be accepted at these collection events for recycling.
This includes small appliances such as hairdryers, irons, power tools, children’s toys, and larger household items such as fridges, washing machines, and dishwashers.
Waste batteries and energy saving light bulbs will also be welcomed. These will all be accepted free of charge and the collection events are open to all members of the public.
In 2015 the people of Galway recycled approximately seven kg per person in the county, and a total of 5,701 tonnes of electrical waste was recycled at WEEE Ireland collection events nationwide.
If you cannot make the collection day, remember you can still access your local Galway recycling centres at Tuam Road, Galway/ Athenry Road, Tuam/ Clifden, and Ballinasloe all year round to recycle all of your electrical, battery and lighting waste for free.
