Hundreds of people are set to walk, jog or run a 6.5 kilometre route on Salthill Promenade on Easter Monday to raise money for people with multiple sclerosis.
This is the fourth year of the event which is run by city based sisters Mary and Teresa Flanagan. Last year saw the participants take in the sunny views of Salthill before enjoying music and dancing on Claddagh Quay.
This year sees a change of venue as the Claddagh Hall is undergoing work. However, the Salthill Hotel has stepped in to support this worthwhile venture.
“Last year’s event was a great success which was helped by the lovely weather,” said Teresa Flanagan. “It is suited to all ages and abilities so whether you want to take a slow pace and have a chat or try to beat your personal best with a run, the choice is yours.”
The walk/run begins at the Salthill Hotel at noon on Easter Monday and continues to the Claddagh Hall before looping back along the Prom to kick the wall at Blackrock. There will be live music and refreshments at the Salthill Hotel at the end of the fundraiser.
Entry to the event costs €10 and the money raised will help people with multiple sclerosis to assess information, services and support on a local, regional and national level. More than 6,000 people have MS in Ireland.
