Underground folk and indie @ Róisín Dubh

Toby Hay, Phantom Dog Beneath The Moon, Yawning Chasm, and Gavin Prior

THE RIGHTEOUS sounds of underground folk-rock and avant-garde indie will fill the upstairs bar of the Róisín Dubh this evening with a show featuring Toby Hay, Phantom Dog Beneath The Moon, Yawning Chasm, and Gavin Prior.

Welsh guitarist/songwriter Toby Hay is touring Ireland to promote his new album The Gathering. Inspired by Indian ragas, African kora music and ancient Welsh harp music, he performs on both the six and 12 string guitars.

Phantom Dog Beneath The Moon - Aaron Hurley (guitar/vocals ) and Scott McLoughlin (other instruments ) - last month released their long awaited third album, The Statue of The Hunter is Lost at Sea, on Galway label Rusted Rail. An album of avant garde indie-rock and ambient music, it is a challenging, yet highly rewarding, listen.

Yawning Chasm is Aaron Coyne, who plays folk influenced songs on baritone ukulele. Recurring song themes are the colour blue, unrequited love, and the moon. Gavin Prior will perform music from his instrumental album, All Who Wander, released on Deserted Village and Toby Hay's Cambrian Records.

The show is organised by Deserted Village. Doors are at 8pm. Admission is €8.
