Indulge in afternoon tea this Easter at Hotel Meyrick

Hotel Meyrick is known as the home of the perfect traditional afternoon tea in the city. Sink into one of the parlour lounge’s relaxing chairs and enjoy Hotel Meyrick’s afternoon tea, served daily from 1pm to 6pm. Savour hand-cut sandwiches with seasonal fillings, homemade fruit scones with cream and preserves, and delicious pastry creations made by head pastry chef Peter and his team, all accompanied with freshly brewed tea or coffee from only €17 per person or €30 for two.

Make a day of it and add a glass of prosecco or warm yourself up with a Baileys or royale coffee.

The hotel's resident pianist Alison will provide a soothing soundtrack to your afternoon each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This Easter, as a highlight of the Galway Food Festival, Hotel Meyrick is partnering with CÚRAM, which will host a children’s workshop and afternoon tea on molecular gastronomy at the hotel on Thursday April 13.

CÚRAM is the Science Foundation Ireland centre for research in medical devices based at NUI Galway and its scientists will become masters of the molecular wacky, and the children will become their willing assistants.

The workshop will be a fun way for children to explore how natural materials are used in medicine, and how they are designed to deliver biomolecules.

Children will then participate in a hands-on activity, creating their own flavoured “energy spheres” alongside CÚRAM scientists.

After all that work, hard earned hot chocolates and cupcakes will finish off their experience.

While the budding scientists are learning, parents can relax in comfort in the hotel's beautiful Parlour Lounge and enjoy afternoon tea — the perfect indulgence for a little well deserved adult time out.

This event is suitable for children between the ages of eight and 12 only. The workshop will last for one hour and will take place at 1pm. Booking is essential. Spaces are strictly limited.

Tickets, including afternoon tea, are priced at €15 per adult and €9 per child. To book afternoon tea at the hotel or attendance at the molecular gastronomy April 13 event email [email protected] or call (091 ) 564041.
