Salthill elderly register
Are you elderly and living on your own and want the reassurance that Salthill gardai area aware of that?
Gardai in Salthill are in the process of updating their Elderly Register, a list of people who live on their own in the community.
There may be people who are interested in being on the register and may appreciate a call or visit from time to time from a Community Garda who may provide them with advice and assistance where necessary.
To register, just contact Salthill Garda Station on 091 514720 and Gardai will follow up with a visit in the next few weeks.
National Duathlon Championships in Kilcornan this Sunday
Predator Triathlon Club hosts the National Duathlon Championships on Sunday March 12 from 11am at Kilcornan Woods in Clarinbridge.
A voluntary committee of Predator Tri Club members led by Tomás Mangan are planning and organising the event in association with Triathlon Ireland and a donation from the proceeds from the event will be presented to the Brothers of Charity.
The event is open to juniors, youths and adults. The adults will run 7km, cycle 37km and finish with a 4.5km run.
The Juniors depending on their age group will do shorter courses. Over 250 entries and 100 juniors are expected on the day.
The run takes in the grounds and woods of Kilcornan and the cycle route is a loop of Kilcornan, Roevehagh, through Lisheenkyle and back via Ballygariff. Members of the public and motorists are requested to be patient while the event goes by.
