Lifes2good, an Irish health and beauty company headquartered in Galway, teamed up with local charity Galway SAMARITANS last year in an attempt to raise much needed funds and awareness for the charity. Galway SAMARITANS are currently undertaking a refurbishment of their Nun’s Island location which had greatly deteriorated over the past number of years.
Lifes2good has made a donation of €50,000 to Galway SAMARITANS which was raised through a number of staff fundraising activities as well as a substantial company contribution. Initiatives undertook include a number of quiz nights, a bake sale, a 5km run and the SAMARITANS Cyclathon. The outreach extended as far as the U.S and China with other Lifes2good offices and suppliers donating to the cause.
Lifes2good CEO, James Murphy said, “It has been great to see all the staff getting involved in raising funds and awareness. You never know, the person you work beside everyday could be struggling and really need the help of the Galway SAMARITANS someday.” He also added, “We really wanted to get involved with a local charity and show other businesses in the area the importance of making a contribution, no matter how big or small, to the local community.”
Heather Pope, Galway SAMARITANS Fund-Raising Lead says, “This fantastic contribution from Lifes2Good will help us ensure the presence of SAMARITANS in Galway for the foreseeable future – we hope to return to No. 14 Nun’s Island mid-2017 and continue to be there for anyone who needs us. Donations such as this, give us confidence to plan ahead and to finish the refurbishment to a good standard, with technology in place to train volunteers and keep our vital helpline going. Closest to our heart is making sure that the people who might need us, know we’re there, so any additional funds can go towards publicity and creating awareness of the helpline.”
