Moycullen face league leaders

Moycullen men's basketball are on the road again this weekend to face Griffith's Sword Thunder on Saturday (6pm ).

Having preserved their record over Belfast Star this season with a 75-60 win in Belfast last weekend, they travel with confidence, but will expect to find it tough against the joint league leaders.

Last weekend Moycullen were well on top against Belfast Star. Although games between the two sides have been traditionally tight, Moycullen were on the way with 50-36 lead at half time.

Top scorers for Moycullen were Dylan Cunningham with a game-high 26, Paul Freeman with 20, and Patrick Lyons, ensuring Moycullen have not only maintained their mid-table position, but extended their lead over those below.

NUIG Mystics, in their first season of women's Super League, continue to struggle. Despite the best scoring efforts of Ebony Wells (16 ), Maggie Byrne (8 ), and Ciara Newell (7 ), they could not match the prowess of DCU, particularly in the second half. Although just ahead by 26-20 at the break, Mercy Top finished comfortable 66-38 winners.

There was good news in the men's first division for Galway clubs. Maree were 109-98 winners over with Paulius Peldzius (26 ), Kenneth Hansberry (23 ), and Eoin Rockall (19 ) leading the scoring. And across the county Titans enjoyed a comfortable 80-65 win over ITC. Toms Fabriciuss (23 ), Gene Williams (17 ), and Kelvin Atu (14 ) were the top scorers.
