LEGENDARY TUAM songwriter Padraig Stevens will play a rare Galway concert next week, at The King's Head, accompanied by Leo Moran of The Saw Doctors.
Padraig has written hit songs for Christy Moore and Michael English, but if you want to hear the original versions of 'The Tuam Beat' and 'Ireland for the Summer', he will perform them in the Ruby Room, The King's Head, on Thursday February 23 at 8.30pm.
He also co-wrote a number of Saw Doctors' hits, including 'I Useta Lover', 'Still The Only One', and 'That’s What She Said Last Night'. He has also been invovled with bands such as The Problems, The Powerpack, and was manager of the great Tuam punk band Blaze X. He has been honoured with Arts Awards by both Galway County Council and Tuam Town Council; released the solo albums, Sound and Puddles and Rainbows; and an album with Leo Moran entitled The Folk Footballers.
