The return of The Redneck Manifesto

Irish post rock giants are back on stage and now on streaming services

FIRST CAME the announcement of live dates, then the appearance of their albums on streaming services, and now there is speculation The Redneck Manifesto are recording, and will be releasing, new music.

The Redneck Manifesto play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Friday February 17 at 8pm. The band, featuring Richie Egan (Jape ) on bass, along with Mervyn Craig, Matthew Bolger, Niall Byrne, and Neil O'Connor, have been at the forefront of post-rock in Ireland since the early noughties, and easily stand comparison to any other of the world's post-rock acts.

The band have released the albums Thirty Six Strings (2001 ), Cut Your Heart Off From Your Head (2002 ), I Am Brazil (2004 ) and Friendship (2010 ), which the Rednecks themselves described as “a psychedelic krautrock band jamming with The Meters”, as well as the EPs Seven Stabs and Rmnmn. All are now downloadable or can be streamed on Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play and Tidal.

Nialler9 will be DJing afterwards. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
