Glenlo Abbey Golf Course — a true lakeside gem

This lake side golf course, although fair to the beginners, can be a great test to the low handicapper. With the many lakes, trees, contoured greens, and the wind whipping up from Lough Corrib, it plays differently every day. A championship blue course, members white course and ladies red course. The gentle rolling hills meet the river Corrib in a tranquil, unspoilt location, amazing to think this gem is only a five minutes’ drive from Galway City Centre.

This stunning course is overseen by Gary Madden, a Galway native, PGA professional and Golf Director at Glenlo Abbey Golf. Gary has more than 17 years’ experience in golf coaching previously serving as ILGU Regional and provincial Coach for Connacht GUI.

Glenlo Abbey Golf offers Gary the ideal location to operate his one on one tutorials, with a private teaching bay, complemented by the state of the art driving range and engaging nine hole golf course all culminating in an ideal learning environment for all golfing abilities, junior programmes, ladies group coaching, beginners, inter club coaching and clinics for hotel guests and corporate groups and individuals.

Over the past three years Glenlo Abbey have successfully completed a restoration phase of tees, fairways, bunkers, and restored all nine greens to a very high standard.

Glenlo Abbey Golf Courses is one of the few Irish Golf Courses to have undergone such significant investment on the course and its machinery. Estate Manager, David Farrar and his green keeping staff work diligently to ensure the course compliments the five star estate.

Future plans for Glenlo Golf Course include the enhancement of a purpose built club house.

As a result, there has never been a better time to become a member of Glenlo Abbey Golf Club, call the Pro Shop and the professional team will be delighted to show you the course and discuss membership options.
