Heartless thieves strike church, Christmas gifts and houses over festive period

Gardai are investigating a series of burglaries which took place in the city and county over the last few weeks. Between 4.30pm and midnight on December 21, a house in Frenchpark, Oranmore, Co Galway was broken into and cash, jewellery and personal belongings were taken.

Anyone who may have seen anyone acting or any vehicle acting suspiciously in the area or who may have any information is asked to contact Oranmore Garda Station on 091-388030

On Christmas Eve, a house on Ballybane Rd, Galway was broken in to. A number of Christmas gifts were taken from underneath the Christmas tree. These included a laptop, headphones and clothing was taken. Anyone with information in relation to these thefts or is offered any of these items for sale is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000

Between 7pm on Christmas Day and 8am on St Stephens Day, the sacristy Of St Bridgets Church, Portumna was broken into. Damage was caused and a sum of money in coin form was taken. Anyone who may have seen anyone or any vehicle acting suspiciously in the area or who may have any information is asked to contact Portumna Garda Station 09097-41004

On December 29 between 3am and 9am a business premises on Kirwans Lane, Galway was broken in to and a sum of money was taken. Anyone who may have any information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000
