Galway Technical Institute has launched a new survival kit for students who are planning a work or study visit to a foreign country.
Moving – Make it Simple will guide students through the research process, resulting in the production of a customised support tool unique to their experience. The kit has been developed in conjunction with European Partners over the past 18 months and has been funded by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme.
It is a web-based service available to users who are planning a work or study visit to a foreign country. It can be used by anyone, but will be of particular benefit to students at any level on the NQF Level 5+.
A student can research the country and document all important details before leaving. This information can then be transferred to the user by e-mail or SMS text.
The site includes information about the country and region or city; information about the training placement; a checklist of documents, eg, flight tickets, driving licence, insurance policies, visa, etc; accommodation address, transfer details, name and contact details of contacts, travel timetables, and itinerary.
It will for the first time give students the opportunity to access a platform which can then be customised to reflect all the details associated with a work or study visit abroad.
