Lower Salthill to get pedestrian crossing

Safety and improvement works for roads in Lower Salthill began this week, and have been welcomed by Labour city councillor Niall McNelis, who said it should help "promote a more pedestrian friendly city".

The work will be done in two phases - the first this month, and the second phase in January. the December works began this week, and involve the installation of a pedestrian crossing at the junction of St Mary's Avenue and Salthill Road Lower, and will include footpath improvement works. The Galway City Council has warned that there may be traffic dirsruption because of this. However the works are due to be completed by tomorrow.

The January works will see the installation of a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Fr Griffin Road and Salthill Road Lower, including junction safety improvement works and footpath upgrades.
