The wonderful array of speakers that the Galway Astronomy Club have been bringing to Galway this year continues with a talk on Monday next on “The Wonderful World of Meteorites.”
So what are meteorites? Where do they come from? What are they made of? Are they expensive? How do I know they are real? A sample of many questions people ask all the time.
The aim of this talk is to give the audience a basic understanding and introduction into the world of meteorites, where these and other questions will be answered. The speakers are Stephen Kershaw, who has been collecting meteorites since 2008/2009 and selling them since 2014 through his business Ktec Telescopes Ltd; and Stephen Corcoran has been collecting meteorites since 2014.
Both are members of the International Meteorite Collection Association (IMCA ).The talk is open to the general public and everyone is very welcome.
The talk will begin at 7.30pm in the Westwood House Hotel, Newcastle. For further details about Galway Astronomy Club and its full programme of the season’s planned lectures/ work shops, log onto www.galwayastronomyclub.ie or contact Brian Macgabhann (Chairman ) 085-7298831.
