The Irish Chinese Society Galway will be holding a networking event at the Portershed in Galway on December 9.The event will take place at 11.30am to 1.30pm at Portershed and will continue at 4pm to 5pm at the Galway Hooker Brewery in Oranmore.
The networking event, which will centre around Irish startups and business in the food, drinks and property industries, will be attended by a delegation from the district of Huzhou in eastern China.
The delegation will meet technology startups such as Altocloud, Builder Engine and CitySwifter in the Portershed as well as local food and drinks businesses such as Connemara Abalone, Micil Poitín, the Galway Food Company and Kinvara Smoked Salmon.
Lorraine Higgins, barrister, ex-Labour senator and spokesperson on foreign affairs and trade, will be speaking about her visit to Huzhou at the event while Xue He, Commercial Counsellor for the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ireland, will also be speaking about “Building a Strong Business Connection” at the event.
Kam Chin, the chairman of the Irish Chinese Society Galway, has brought the delegation from Huzhou for a four-day visit to Ireland which will also involve visiting the headquarters of Enterprise Ireland and Leinster House.
Delegates from Huzhou will include: Shi Rongyao, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Huzhou People’s Congress; Xu Ruzhong, Vice director of Huzhou Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs office; and Shen Jianqiang, Vice chairman of Huzhou Industry and Commerce Federation.
The Irish Chinese Society Galway hopes this event will help to promote Irish businesses, food and drinks produce to the Chinese market.
