Funding for An Spidéal childcare centre

A new community childcare centre in An Spidéal is to benefit from a grant of more than €70,000 towards equipment.

Minister for Community, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs Éamon Ó Cuív this week approved funding totalling €72,700 for the committee of Ionad Cúram Leanaí An Spidéil Teo for the purchase of indoor and outdoor play facilities, furniture, computers, storage facilities, and safety equipment.

A full range of childcare services will be provided at the centre, including playschool and after school services as well as summer camps. The centre will open officially on Monday September 1. The facility will provide services for up to 110 children up to 12 years of age.

Minister Ó Cuív said the childcare centre is an important facility that has a key role in the preservation and promotion of the Irish language in the region.
