Galway writer nominated for prestigious literary award

Fred Johnston nominated for Pushcart Prize

Fred Johnston, the Belfast-born, Galway based, short-story writer, poet, and novelist, has been nominated for a prestigious Pushcart Prize by the literary magazine, The Luxembourg Review.

The Review, published in Belgium, is edited by Adele Okali and has an international advisory panel. The selected poem, 'Business End,' appeared in a recent issue.

The Pushcart Prize is an American literary prize published by Pushcart Press that honours the best poetry, short fiction, essays or published in the small presses over the previous year. It has been described as "The most honored literary project in America" and previous recipients have included Colm McCann, Joyce Carol Oates, and Wendell Berry.
