Galway ladies football, yet to post a win in this year’s Bord Gais Energy National League, will be hoping for a better result when they host Monaghan in Dunmore on Sunday (2pm ).
Last weekend they suffered a comprehensive defeat to an unbeaten Dublin side by 2-16 to 0-7.
Dublin were strong right up the middle, particularly at centre forward and full forward where Lindsey Davey, and Sinead Aherne scored 2-11 between them. Galway tried hard, but were playing catch-up all the time. Within 10 minutes Dublin were 2-3 to 0-1, and the second half took a similar pattern.
The Galway ladies never gave up, and there were good performances from by Emer Flaherty, Anne Marie McDonnagh, who scored two nice points from play, Lisa Cohill, Edel Concannon, Sinead Burke, and Ger Connelly.
The county will host u-16 trials on Saturday at 11am in Headford.
