Campus Medical celebrates a decade of innovation and growth

Galway-based, global medtech firm Cambus Medical is this weekend celebrating its 10-year anniversary since it first established operations in Spiddal. Cambus Medical is a world leader in the development and manufacture of advanced component and technology solutions which enable minimally invasive medical devices used in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to successfully treat millions of people worldwide.

Founded in 2006 by local Medtech entrepreneurs Barry Comerford and John Farragher, the company has grown from strength to strength over the past 10 years through ongoing investment in innovation and expansion of its capabilities and facilities.

With a current day workforce approaching 120 people, the company’s ongoing expansion plans should see this number grow to around 300 over the next five years.

Indeed, the past four years has been busy for the company who partnered with Freudenberg Medical, in 2012 in a deal which saw German-based Freudenberg, a privately-owned diversified global technology group employing 40,000 people worldwide, acquire a 50% stake in the company.

As a global partner to Medical Device OEMs for the design, development and manufacture of innovative medical device technologies, locations worldwide include California, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Costa Rica, Germany, Ireland and China.

Speaking this week, Barry Comerford, Co-Founder and CEO of Cambus Medical said that the 10th anniversary was a fantastic and proud milestone for the company and attributed the success of the company to the relentless dedication and talents of their employees, some who have been with the company since the very beginning.

“Our people have been a hugely significant factor in the growth and development of Cambus Medical , said Barry. “Having trebled our workforce over the past four years, it is the calibre and dedication of our employees that has contributed most to Cambus’s reputation for quality and performance of our products worldwide.

“We are especially proud of the contribution our employees have made over the years in supporting local community initiatives from promoting science and technology in schools through the Junior Achievement Program, sponsporing & supporting local under-age sports and leading intiatives aimed as raising much needed funds for local worthy causes”.

The company plans to mark its 10th anniversary with a celebratory event for employees this weekend in the Ardilaun Hotel.
