Paintings for pooches - art auction in aid of MADRA

This Saturday an anonymous art exhibition and auction will be held in aid of local dog charity MADRA at Tribeton, Galway.

This exciting event will see the works of over 25 artists which have been specially commissioned for the event anonymously exhibited then auctioned off. Some of the big names whose art will be on offer on the evening are Margo Banks, Padraig Mc Caul, Deirdre Walsh, Marissa Weatherhead, Tomas O Maoldomhnaigh, Martina Furlong, Kate Beagan and many more.

Works from both amateur as well as established artists will be anonymously exhibited and only after the hammer comes down will the artist be revealed.

MADRA spokesperson Katie-May North says that the artists involved have all submitted canvasses signed only on the reverse so the works showcased will be kept anonymous until after purchase.”

The exhibition is a free event and it will be open from 4pm with the auction kicking off at 6pm.The online catalogue is now available for viewing and can be found on the MADRA website: www.madra.ie

The catalogue contains most of the fantastic artwork that will be exhibited and up for auction on the evening, with a few surprise pieces being kept back for the event. Maximum bids will be accepted in advance of the event so if you can’t make it on the night you may still be able to bag yourself a piece.

MADRA is a Connemara-based dog rescue & re-homing facility whose ultimate and overall aim is to ensure that all dogs have permanent, loving homes.

MADRA works to educate members of the general public to have a responsible attitude towards dogs and their welfare and to help create a world where no healthy, good-natured dogs are killed merely because they are considered to be a surplus number.
