Title for Ahascragh/Fohenagh

Ahascragh/Fohenagh were far too strong for Ballyhaunis in the Connacht intermediate hurling final replay, winning by 2-20 to 0-13 at Athleague.

In a tremendous display, Galway senior star Cathal Mannion shot a personal tally of 2-11 for the Galway champions, while Cathal's brother Padraig played a fine game in a sweeper role in defence, while midfielder Laurence Tully was also to the fore throughout.

The winners led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the break after playing into the breeze. Mannion shot his first goal of the game on 50 minutes to push his side eight points (1-16 to 0-11 ) ahead and he added a second goal four minutes later.

John Finnerty completed the scoring in injury-time as an impressive Ahascragh-Fohenagh added the Connacht crown to the Galway title they won for the first time three weeks ago.
