Galway WFC is calling on all supporters to get out and support the women's team this weekend in the home season finale.
Galway play their final home game of the season in Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday (7pm ) against Peamount United, and they will be looking to end the season on a high by getting a result against the Dubliners.
The game will have an added interest with Peamount’s Lisa Casserly returning home to be pitted against her former teammates.
Last weekend Galway made the trip to Ferrycarrig Park to take on Wexford Youths. Despite having a number of chances Galway could not convert, and in the end they went down to a double strike from Aoibhinn Webb.
Webb first popped up on 25 minutes, finishing to the bottom right past Tina Hughes in the Galway goal. Moments before that Sadhbh Doyle had the ball in the Wexford net, only for the linesman to rule it out as he adjudged the ball had gone out of play before Aislinn Meaney’s pull back from the by-line.
In the second half Galway continued to push for an equaliser, but the game was put beyond doubt in the dying moments when Webb bagged her second. This time she floated in a shot from well outside the box, which lobbed Hughes and sailed into the top right hand corner.
