JOHN SPILLANE is a busy man. In September he launched a new TG4 series; last month saw him publish his first book, Will We Be Brilliant Or What?, a collection of lyrics and memoir; and this month he plays Galway.
The celebrated Cork singer-songwriter plays the latest Nocturne gig at Loam restaurant, The Fairgreen, on Sunday November 20 at 7pm. The concert will see John play songs from across his career.
The TG4 series is Na Bailéid, and features John as a song detective exploring the histories behind classic Irish traditional ballads such as 'She Moved Through The Fair' and 'Whiskey In The Jar', and include performances by Damien Dempsey, Mick Flannery, and Moya Brennan. Will We Be Brilliant Or What?, published by The Collins Press includes the lyrics of 57 songs with accompanying stories.
This month also sees the re-release of Irish Songs We Learned At School volumes 1 and 2 on Universal Records. The albums were first released in 2008 and 2009 and have been out of print for the last few years.
Tickets are €20 and available from Loam Restaurant only. See also www.roisindubh.net
