Name: Traidisiún
The old fashioned style of drink is one of great history and has many stories behind it and will surely be the creator of many more to come. This drink is a drink for drinkers and for the type of person who has a love and passion for great spirits and the great craft of bar tending. For this drink I have moved away from the original which is made with whiskey and have gone for an Irish touch with something that has a great history in Ireland, poitín. It is only in recent years that this beautiful spirit is coming back into fashion and the craft of making it is still very much alive through the local Galway distillery and distiller Padraic Ó Griallais that makes Micil Poitín in Salthill, Galway.
This cocktail is very smooth and complex, definitely one to be sipped and enjoyed. Great for this time of year to warm you up after a cold walk on the Salthill Prom.
Ingredients
60ml Micil Poitín
10ml honey syrup
3 dashes grapefruit bitters
1 dash cranberry bitters
Method
All stirred in a mixing glass until desired dilution is reached then served in a double old fashioned glass with a lovely fresh sprig of rosemary.
