THE BRILLIANT young French pianist Adam Laloum makes his Irish debut with a Music For Galway concert next week, performing works by Brahms, Schubert, and Mozart.
Laloum, who won first prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Switzerland in 2009, and who has studied music at the Toulouse Conservatory and the Paris National Conservatoire, plays the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Tuesday October 11 at 8pm.
The programme features Brahms' three short Intermezzi (Op 117 ), which have been described as an autumnal set of lullabies; and his dynamic and contrasting Six Pieces (Op 116 ). Staying with the theme of mature works, Mozart’s last piano sonata, the energetic Sonata K 576, will also be performed; as will Schubert’s set of four impromptus (D 935 ), written a year before the composer's untimely death.
Laloum is the founder of Trio les Esprits, with cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière and violinist Mi-sa Yang. He has also played with the Mariinsky Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, WDR Stuttgart, and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
