IF YOU can deal with seeing a man wheel on to stage wearing a karate outfit, roller-skates and prosthetic kangaroo claws, if you can witness some partial nudity for a good cause; and if you want one long joyous laugh, you need to see Sam Simmons.
His new show, Sam Simmons Not A People Person, is coming to the Róisín Dubh on Saturday October 29 at 8pm as part of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway. Unlike almost anything else, Sam’s performance exists in that heady lull between wakefulness and sleep, when thoughts and images flutter, melt, and transform into wild things. It is truly daring and packed with scenes only Simmons’ pleasantly deranged mind could devise.
In 2015, Simmons won the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy award after having been nominated three times previously. He also won the 2015 Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Sam’s prize winning show, Spaghetti For Breakfast, featured a blend of surreal gags, sketches and prop comedy which was described as "exhaustingly funny high energy nonsense".
