Award winning jazz singer to perform at Electric

Lauren Kinsella in concert for Galway Jazz Festival 2016

LAUREN KINSELLA, the London based, Irish, vocalist, and winner of the UK Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 JazzFM Awards, is in Galway next month to perform at the upcoming Galway Jazz Festival.

Kinsella is known as one of the London jazz scene's most adventurous artists, performing throughout the UK and Europe as soloist or bandleader, within several cross-arts projects. She leads her own ensemble and is part of Snowpoet with multi-instrumentalist Chris Hyson. She also holds a senior lecturing post at Leeds Conservatoire.

Among her other collaborations are with French saxophonist Julian Pontvianne’s 'Abhra'; Turkish composer Onur Turkmenn’s ‘Sailing to Byzantium’; Irish composer Ian Wilson’s ‘I Burn for You’ and ‘The Last Siren’; and Laura Jurd’s ‘Human Spirit’. Among her other awards are the Young Musicwide Performance Award (2010 ), the Kenny Wheeler Prize (2013 ), and the THSH Birmingham Jazzlines Fellowship (2015 ). Her albums have been released on the Edition Records, WideEarRecords, Diatribe, and Two Rivers labels.
