Mercy Primary — educating Galway children for 175 years

Mercy Primary is the ‘school around the corner’, situated on the corner of St Francis Street. Mercy Primary has been educating families of Galway city for almost 175 years. The school is a place where every person is a valued member of a happy, vibrant, learning community. It provides a warm, nurturing, environment for all children. It is a safe and happy school.

The Mercy is a Catholic school, however all religious backgrounds are welcome. The team strive to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy, and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral, social, and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.

The Mercy Primary participates in several projects such as the Green Schools Project, Junior Achievement Award, Discover Science and Maths, and the Active School Flag. It has excellent facilities, which include a rooftop garden and safe playgrounds.

When formal classes end, a variety of afterschool activities begin. The favourites are French club, sports club, and hip hop dance.

The facilities also include SALI Childcare which provides quality free preschool and subsidised after-school care in Galway city centre. SALI Childcare provides healthy, nutritious, home cooked meals for the students from the new state of the art fully equipped kitchen.
