CLADDAGH BORN actor Aidan Dooley, who has enjoyed international acclaim and success with his show Antartic Explorer, about the life of Tom Crean, will launch his new book, Travels with Tom Crean, tomorrow.
Travels with Tom Crean will be launched in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop tomorrow at 6pm. In 2001, Dooley wrote a play about polar mariner Tom Crean who was with Scott and Shackleton on three epic trips to the Antarctic. In this enthralling, funny, and moving account, Aidan tells the story of his journey with Tom Crean; how the play was written, and how it grew from an unknown show with an unknown actor, into an award-winning hit that has been performed from Dublin to Dubai.
The book will be launched by The Irish Times journalist Lorna Siggins. Admission is free and all are welcome.
