Eoin Dolan - new song, debut solo album out this week

Galway singer-songwriter releases 'Dear Brian' as taster for new album

TO SAY The Beachboys Brian Wilson is influential is an understatement, and one of the many who have fallen under the composer's spell is Galway singer-songwriter Eoin Dolan.

Dolan's latest single, 'Dear Brian' appears to be a homage to Wilson ("you've got the sea air and you've still got your voice/but who gives a s**t if you still had the choice to be the best man the stage has ever seen?/Go again, go again, go again, dear Brian" ) and it is suffused with that mixture of gentle, balmy melody, underpinned by bittersweet melancholy.

The track is a taster for Eoin's debut solo album which will be released on September 22 in association with Citóg Records. Through his debut EP Placid Ocean (2014 ) and the Something Good EP (2016 ), Dolan has emerged in recent years to be one of the city's strongest and most impressive songwriters. Inspired by Brian Wilson, Syd Barrett and John Lennon, his folk-pop/surf-pop styled music has been praised by Nialler9 and Hotpress.
