A senior director of one of the biggest cruise companies in the world is coming to Galway to promote sales — on the Aran Islands.
The special evening in Joe Watty’s bar in Kilronan, Inis Mór, has been organised by Fahy Travel Worldchoice for Thursday of next week, September 22.
Ben Bouldin, Sales Director UK and Ireland, with Royal Caribbean International has agreed to attend the promotion.
“It’s a bit of a coup to have someone the calibre of Ben coming over from London to our evening,” said Fiona Flaherty, Cruise Consultant at Fahy Travel.
“We have a number of good clients out there and a lot of honeymoon clients. There is a lot of interest in cruise holidays, so we decided to organise a cruise night there.
“I was at a Royal Caribbean event in Dublin some time ago where I was telling Ben Bouldin we were planning this night in Aran and he said he would love to go out.”
The promotion will be held in Joe Watty’s from 7-9pm on Thursday of next week, with wine and nibbles for those attending, and bookings will be taken on the night.
The Irish cruise market is growing at a rapid rate, with a 14% increase in the numbers opting for this type of holiday last year, bringing the total to almost 36,000.
The Mediterranean is the destination of choice for 60% of Irish cruisers, with the Caribbean being the next most popular, at almost a quarter of passengers.
