99 Souls - funky house duo for Seven

'The Girl Is Mine' hitmakers in concert tomorrow night

99 SOULS, the duo behind the massive funky house hit 'The Girl Is Mine', which everyone from Beyoncé to Pete Tong has been raving about, and who want their debut album to be "classic, timeless", are coming to Galway.

The duo came to attention in 2014 with 'The Girl Is Mine', a mash up of Destiny's Child's 'Girl' and Brandy and Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine'. The track was released in late 2015 with a re-recorded vocal from Brandy, hitting No 5 on the UK Singles Chart and No 1 on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Chart.

99 Souls have remixed for Snakehips and Blonde, and played Creamfields, Lovebox, Bestival, and the Reading and Leeds festivals. They are also working on their debut album, and promise it will "touch on topics seldom explored in club music".

Citing Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, and Kanye West as inspirations, they add: "We both love acoustic music, and we want to connect with people...we're trying to do something that hasn't been done before. We're making an epic soul meets gospel meets 2016 house album where every song means something. We just want to make a classic, timeless, album!"

99 Souls play The Loft at Seven, Bridge Street, tomorrow [Friday September 16] at 9.30pm. Tickets are €15 from www.sevenbridgestreet.ie or www.ticketmaster.ie
