Get the Shivers for Maurice Fulton

House music innovator to DJ at Electric

“SIT DOWN, smoke, get the keyboards, maybe hire a drummer or programme it myself, smoke, mix it down, put it on CD, smoke, listen to it.” This is how Maurice Fulton, one of house music’s true originals, describes his working methods.

He may make it sound easy, but the ex-pat American, now resident in Sheffield, has been creating music for 25 years and is respected as a true innovator in house, as Galway will see when he plays Shivers, Electric mainfloor, tomorrow at 10pm.

His music blends garage, techno, jazz, boogie, hip-hop, Afro, funk, soul, and eclectic disco selections alongside contemporary house and dance. He was part of New Jersey’s Basement Boys, the production team behind ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless )’. He has released seven solo albums, 20 EPs, and been commissioned for more than 140 remixes.

Support is from Shivers resident Eoin. Tickets are between €5 and €10. See Electric Galway on Facebook.
