AtlanTec Festival 2016 have announced that IBM, supported by Cisco, VT Networks and ITAG Skillnet, is hosting Ireland’s first IBM Watson IoT hackathon. The weekend event takes place at the PorterShed, the hub of Galway’s innovation district, from October 7-9 2016.
Sixty participants will learn how to build solutions on IBM Watson, the world’s leading cognitive IoT platform, utilising Cisco’s secure IoT technology, and gain access to the VT Network which connects Ireland’s internet of things.
Business and technical experts will be on hand to help participants develop their ideas through user-centric design, software and hardware prototyping, and pitching to a panel of industry thought leaders.
Prizes will be awarded to the best overall IoT project, best edge IoT project, and best citizen scientist project. The weekend is not all about hard work. There will be lots of prizes, food, giveaways, and the occasional beer to help the creative processs. If hackers do want to burn the midnight oil, they can bring a sleeping bag and crash at the PorterShed.
The competition is aimed at people who are interested in developing a cognitive IoT solution, it is open to domain experts, as well as developers and technologists. Participants will own any IP that they develop over the weekend, making it the perfect opportunity to kick start an IoT business.
