A fundraising table quiz to assist the work of Calais Kitchens, which provides food and other provisions to the refugee's stranded on the French coast, takes place in Galway city this weekend.
The quiz will be held in the Galway Mechanics Institute, Middle Street, this Saturday at 8pm. There will be spot prices. It is organised by Galway student Liam Cunningham, who spent a month as a voluntary worker at the refugee camp in Calais.
The organization he worked for, Calais Kitchens, enables people to cook for themselves by distributing food and firewood to every home in the Calais refugee camp once a week. According to Liam, this work is vital because camp residents "are living in terrible conditions, with very little support from the government and no means of earning an income".
