Joe Rooney @ Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh

Fr Ted and Kilnaskully star to play Dominick Street venue

HE IS BEST known as wildboy priest Fr Damo from Father Ted and Timmy Higgins from Kilnaskully, but Joe Rooney is also one of the very best and funniest comedians in Ireland.

Joe is probably Ireland’s hardest working comedian, described by Hotpress as “at times infectiously manic, and always riveting” . His other TV credits include Spooky Stakeout (RTE ); RiRa (TG4 ), Red Rock (TV3 ), and Roy (BBC ). He also starred in a stage version of the Shawshank Redemption at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Joe performs at the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh tomorrow. Doors are 9pm. Support is from Tomie James, a past winner of the Galway Comedy Smackdown competition. He wrote his first solo show about going organic after being diagnosed with a food allergy, Super Organic Me. The MC is Steve Bennett.

Tickets are €8 in advance from Róisín Dubh; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and www.roisindubh.net; and €10 on the door.
