Learn the secrets of the solar system

The secrets of the solar system will be among the subjects discussed at a series of public talks by the Galway Astronomy Club at the Westwood House Hotel.

On Monday February 23 at 8pm, Prof Tom Ray of Trinity College Dublin will give a talk about the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope to be launched in 2013.

The James Webb Space Telescope will observe the most distant objects in the universe, beyond the reach of either ground based instruments or Hubble.

Further talks include Dave Lillis on the impact of solar eclipses on human history, and science writer Kevin Nolan on humanity’s fascination with Mars.
