There is "resentment, confusion and dissatisfaction" in Connemara over new bin charges and waste collection arrangements, and such anger is likley to be expressed at a public meeting.
A public meeting about the new charges takes place in the Cill Chiaráin Community Centre, tomorrow [Wednesday August 10] at 8pm. It is being organised by Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh, Cllr Tom Healy, and the South Connemara Máirtín Ó Cadhain Sinn Féin branch. They are asking people from "all over Connemara" to attend. Barna Recycling has also beeen invited to send a representative.
Sen Ó Clochartaigh and Cllr Healy will also be holding a clinic at 4pm that day in the Carna Bay Hotel for people who wish to raise individual issues. Afterwards they will be visiting two housing estates in the area where residents have raised issues regarding the condition of the houses. They will subsequently raise these concerns with the Galway County Council.
