Parkrun comes to Rinville Park

What do London, Sydney, Copenhagen, Capetown and, now Rinville, Oranmore, have in common?

Rinville Park has become one of the many worldwide locations to host a Parkrun event.

Parkrun is a global network of weekly 5km timed runs or walks in local parks that take place each and every Saturday morning year round.

Currently there are over 380 Parkruns worldwide with almost half a million people taking part in events since its inception.

The runs and walks are open to all ages and abilities, they are free to enter, hosted in safe traffic-free parks, and are easy to join.

As a community based initiative, it encourages participation, and not competition.

The Saturday morning runs are open to all ages, and make for a fun and active way for families to kick start their weekends.

On August 6, Parkrun will host its first event in Rinville Park, Oranmore.

The meeting point for all walkers and joggers will be the lower car park.

This free weekly event, takes place at 9.30am sharp, every Saturday morning, and will be led by run director Maureen Devaney.

The event provides both locals and visitors with a safe and fun environment for the perfect Saturday morning jog or walk, and there will be post-activity refreshments.

Parkrun Galway is supported by the HSE through their ‘Healthy Ireland’ and ‘Get Ireland Active’ initiatives, and association with the Galway Sports Partnership and Galway City Council.

More information is available on the Parkrun website, or by contacting Maureen Devaney on 087 6818810 or by email [email protected].
