The first chapter anywhere in Europe, the Galway chapter of ‘100 Men Who Give A Damn!’ is a bit like Dragon’s Den for charities. The men of Galway have already raised €7,600 at their first two meetings for local charities.
Here’s how it works. 100 men (or thereabouts ) get together once a quarter. They listen to five-minute pitches from three local charities detailing why they need money for specific, tangible projects. At the end of the third pitch, the members cast a secret ballot, then the winner is announced. Each member then writes a cheque for €100 to the winning charity, totalling up to €10,000.
Our next event will be held on Thursday, August 25th at the Portershed from 6pm. New members welcome, however, you will be required to register at the door and contribute €100 on the night.
