Galway company joins forces with UK equestrian institution

With its HQ in Milltown Galway, Oceanfeed™ Equine have joined forces with leading UK manufacturer of animal health and equestrian products; Battles UK.

The company first began in 1832 and now with over 2,000 outlets in the UK and Northern Ireland, Battles UK continues to be at the forefront of the Animal Health and Equestrian Industry in the UK and overseas.

Founded in 2005 by Dr Stefan Kraan and Patrick Martin, Oceanfeed™ Equine has created a variety of patented seaweed based formulas based on the bioactive ingredients present in the different brown, green and red seaweeds that replace the synthetic and other less desirable ingredients found in a variety of agri- and aquacultural feed ingredients such as antibiotics or synthetic colorants.

“We are delighted to have Oceanfeed™ Equine on sale with Battles UK. It is more than a sales platform for us but an endorsement of the quality of the product we are producing. Battles have been around for over 182 years and their high standards of products are testament to their reputation and presence in the market. This is a very positive move for Oceanfeed™ Equine in both the UK and overseas,” explained Dr Stefan Kraan.

”Battles are delighted to be exclusively distributing Oceanfeed™ Equine and hope to increase both brand awareness and market share of this fantastic, unique supplement.,” said Richard Dewey, Director, Battles UK.

“We are very excited to begin this collaboration with Battles. Oceanfeed™ Equine has proven itself in the major studs and racing stables of Ireland and now, with approximately two thousand stores supported by Battles distribution, we will be able to provide the entire United Kingdom.” Dan Waring, UK Sales, Oceanfeed™ Equine.”

Over the past five years, Oceanfeed™ Equine has expanded to the USA and Vietnam. The company’s focus has been centred on how to eradicate synthetics and chemicals out of aqua and agrifeeds and replace them with natural sustainable organic feed ingredients, i.e. macroalgae or seaweeds with considerable success.

With reports from The British Equestrian Trade Association’s National Equestrian Survey 2015 reporting the UK Equestrian Market share has grown from an estimated £3,600 spent on each horse in 2015 compared with £2,650 in 2011, this is a positive move of expansion for the Galway-based company.
