The Irish pub as existential prison

New play Sad F**k Pub for the Galway Fringe Festival

JEAN PAUL Sartre's famous view that "Hell is other people", captured the difficulties of coexistence, and how an individual can feel alienated from those around him/her.

Now imagine if the Irish pub was living embodiment of Sartre's definition of Hell - this is the premise of Sad F**k Pub, the new one act black comedy by Eoghan Regan, which runs at The Loft, Seven, today [July 21], tomorrow [22], and Saturday [23] at 1pm, for the Galway Fringe Festival.

The play uses audio and visual elements to establish the pub setting as purgatory, an existential prison-of-sorts where the barman (Eoin O’ Sullivan ), Edgar (Ben Wadell ), and Sonny (Robert Reeves ) are condemned to converse about love, masculinity, and heartbreak for eternity.

Tickets are €8/6. See www.galwayfringe.ie
